Apple Day 2021

Article Date: 09-10-2021

Chillington Community Association, in conjunction with the Stokenham Parish Council, would like to offer a large vote of thanks to all the people who joined us on the Apple Day on Saturday the 9th and made it a fantastic success. If you missed the day, you can always look at the pictures on the CCA website. Between 11:00 and 15:00, well over 250 people visited the grounds on a beautiful sunny day to take part in the annual Apple Day. Our thanks go out to the Brownies, Beavers and local well wishers who gave their free time in the days leading up to the 9th of October to pick bags of apples. On the day, kids were a major part of the pressing. Some worked for hours mashing and squeezing the juice. The park was full of people: families using the play equipment, people enjoying picnics, BBQ burgers, hot dogs and drinks supplied by the Bear and Blacksmith. In the Hall, the success of the Second Hand Book sales were only surpassed by the sale of wonderful cakes, buns and teas made for the CCA by local supporters including the WI and members of the Stokenham Art Club. On the day, the CCA managed to raise well over 400 pounds helping us towards our target of buying a second defibrillator for the Village. Following on from the successful Apple day we will hold two further ‘Second Hand Book sale and coffee days’ in the Chillington Village hall on Tuesday 26th of October and Tuesday 23rd of November from 14:00 until 15:30. Come along, bring your old books, buy more have a coffee or tea and meet friends while helping us buy the another defibrillator for Chillington Village and help save lives.
